Perfect Picture Finder

Perfect Picture Finder Software has been designed to resolve one of the biggest problems that photographers have that is of finding the perfect picture. Perfect Picture Finder can search the whole drive including external hard drives where images are usually saved and stored. This software analyses pictures saving hours of work just trying to locate those outstanding images. It allows you to select the level of perfection from Perfect Pictures, Very Good Pictures and Good Pictures. These three levels are deigned to search out pictures of a good standard on the computer.

There are two lower levels that are designed to find poor quality pictures called Poor and Very Poor. These levels are designed to find picture that should be considered for removal. They will usually have a high level of blur.

Blur Analysis

The software also comes with functions like Camera blur analysis that will provide the user with a percentage analysis of Camera blur for each picture. Using this analysis method the user can make the software display each picture with the percentage of blur within that picture,

Example of a search using the Perfect Picture Finder Software

This photo has been resized to fit the web page. It was a very large photo as you can see looking at the scroll bars. But what is very noticeable with the full size picture is that you can inspect each branch that is crisp and sharp without any noticeable blur. The picture does not have a lot of dark space and is quite light with some strong yellow colour. This is a perfect picture, this is not to say that content is perfect that is a personal point of view. The software is concerned with quality of picture not with the actual picture itself. For example it would list a mountain range, or the red arrow aeroplane display as long as the picture quality was good. What the picture actually shows is of no concern to the software. The software is however concerned about sharpness, reduced to no or very little blur, good light and good colour quality.

Again this photo has been resized for the web-site but you can see that there is very little blur around the edge of the plane. When zoomed in the picture is again pin point clear with good detail. Again this is considered a perfect picture with very clear edges. The software can usually distinguish blur that the human eye may miss. This can sometimes separate those good photos in a collection from those very good or perfect photos.

Problems Faced

Why is the software complex lets just take blur as an example. You would think that there is a single type of blur on a picture. Unfortunately there are several types of blur currently this software picks up the two main types of blur. There are other types but they are usually less obvious and more rare. But they do pop up now and again. The type of blur that is repeated more regular in images that the software usually can deal with like Camera blur that you see when the lines art distorted in a picture. The second type of blur is man made or artificial blur that is created by image editing software usually to move the focus away from the background onto the main object. The software usually does a fair job dealing with these two types of blur when analysing what is and what is not a good picture. Now and gain you have such a large amount of blur that the software will just completely miss it. This is very rare but just now and again such a picture may turn up when searching for say perfect pictures.

Camera Equipement

The Perfect Picture Level, unlike Very Good or Good Quality is set at a very high level. To find a perfect picture not only has it to be the perfect shot, but you will need a good quality camera for a picture that has no blur or very very little blur, good light, strong colour and good colour change. The higher the Camera Specification the Skill of the user the higher the chance of that picture being a perfect picture. For everyday cameras (non DSLR or compact cameras) you will expect to find most pictures in the Good Quality range, but those people who take there photography more serious then you will expect to find photos in the good to very good range, but for those who are semi or professional photographers with many years of experience then they may have photos that are considered perfect by the software. For this level of photo you will need a very good compact or usually a DSLR camera.

Quality Not Content

The software is only interested in the quality of the photo not what is actually in the photo. This means that content is not important it is not concerned about opinion, whether what is in the picture is good or not it is only interested in the technical qualities of a picture, blur, lighting, strength of colour etc. All of these attributes when put together are very good indications of what is and what is not a good picture. One of the things the software achieves is a re-valuation of what is a good picture. When it pulls up a very good picture it really can make you look at that picture gain and when you start to consider for example how clear the detail is sometimes it can be very surprising.

Accuracy Levels

It usually puts the correct pictures in the correct categories. By clicking on the picture it will open up a full screen view by clicking on Analyse View, it will then display the full size of the picture however small or large. You can then view in detail for example the amount of blur in that picture, it can even find blur you would not normally notice. The accuracy levels are very high.

Easy Selection of a Photo

Most photographers, even non professional photographers tend to go out for the day take between 100 to 3000 photos on a day out shooting. They return home and download that days shoot of photos on to their laptop or other computer or devices. Usually they then go through each picture looking for those perfect pictures. This is an example of when this software becomes very useful. Firstly you can view each picture in turn and even manually add any photos to a list to decide on later or use large view for a more detailed look at that photo. Also while viewing the images you can select a mode that automatically selects say all perfect or very good photos again to be viewed in more detail later or you can just let the software choose photos for you while you do something different. You can then come back and look at those photos in more detail in your own time.

Poor Photos Easily Deleted

This is where the Perfect Picture Finder Software becomes a very useful analysis tool to help find those poor photos. It also can detect photos that it considers are very poor. Once detected it will list those photos giving the end user the option to delete. This is a good option if you take large amounts of photos and would like to remove all the bad photos saving disk space.

Decision Making Made Easy

This software is very much an analysis tool without the need to set up a huge amount of parameter. All you need to do is decide on the quality of the picture you wish to find and the perfect picture finder will do all the rest.

Manual Selection

It also has a Manual Override button allowing you to view each picture and with a Click of the Mouse add the viewed picture to the list.

Finding a Picture for that Competition

This software is also ideal for searching through thousands of pictures to list those picture that maybe useful for things like competitions.

Advanced Analysis Options

The software also has a set of analysis settings for the advanced user or professional photographer. This allows you to ignore different types of blur, light, and colour etc. by switching these functions on or off different pictures can be found for example if you have pictures with intended background blur and you are looking for this type of picture you can switch artificial blur off. This will be very useful when deciding on certain types of photos.

Camera Blur Pecentage Analysis

Most pictures apart from the absolute perfect picture will have a certain amount of camera blur. For analysis purposes the software will display the Percentage of blur found. Camera blur (blur 2) will calculate the percentage of line blur. The higher the amount of camera blur, usually the poorer the quality of that picture. This is a very good tool for analysing the amount of camera blur a picture actually has. The blur analysis is very sensitive and can work out even fine blur that would not be noticed without zooming into the picture. The analysis gives the percentage of blur therefore pictures with blur can be very quickly realised and removed. If the percentage of blur is small it mybe worth trying to repair that blur or just free up disk space by removing that picture or retaking the photo.

On the Go, with Blur Analysis

Sometimes you really need to have a high amount of pictures without blur say within some type of photo event like a motor car track day shoot etc. Using a laptop you can quickly analyse the percentage of blur in the morning shoot and decide if you need to retake photos with a high amount of blur. Using the "Blur Picture Analysis function" you can get the percentage of every photo taken that morning. By using this function it will list all pictures and give their blur percentage. Switching this function off will allows you to search for Blur using one of the normal Picture Quality Options. The "Blur Picture Analysis function" alone makes a huge difference in quickly identifying each picture with Camera blur and more importantly giving the percentage of blur for that picture. Pictures with high amounts of blur can then be clicked on so that the full size of the picture can be viewed in more detail so blur is located. This function really allows you to make decisions quickly and provides a quick method of establishing the amount of blur for each image. This function really can tell you in terms of pure percentages how much camera blur you really have.
